Steriod Induced diabetes?
Hi all, i was normal with normal blood sugar below 140, but i took Prednisone for one week with 30gm per day, suddenly my blood glucose level shot up above 200 showing values of 240 now i stopped Prednisone one week back but still showing the same value, how will it come down or shall i have to take diabetic medicines, and i am on diet,
Secondly, what is the reason for abnormal values shown by blood glucose testing mahcine once i tested shows 135mg/dl, very next moment means within 30sec when retested it was showing 239 which is one correct and why is this ? machine is brand new,

As far as the glucose testing anomalies are concerned, you must take a few precautions prior to testing. Wash and dry the test site thoroughly, swipe with alcohol prep pad, dry, then do the test. Make sure the machine is calibrated to the control value of the strips if necessary. If you’re still getting wild fluctuations like that, then get a different machine.
