How effective was diabetes training using Conversation Maps?
Conversation maps are small group learning tools – they sit on a table top. they are about 3 feet by 5 feet, visual representations of diabetes care knowledge. The table has 3 to 10 people around the conversation map – and there is typically a diabetes educator guiding the learners through the discovery leanring process of the Conversation map.
I do not know about concept mapping as a tool for diabetes teaching, but I had a microbiology class that required a concept map for every unit. I did not do so well while I was doing the concept maps so I started taking zero’s on the concept map and my exam scores went up an average of 20 – 25%. So it is not necessarily a good tool for some people.
