Sitagliptin (DPP-4 inhibitor)
Sitagliptin phosphate tablets (Januvia®, from Merck and Co, Inc) - a new class of oral anti-diabetic drug, DPP-IV inhibitor, has been approved by FDA in October 2006 for the first and second line treatment of type 2 diabetes. (more...)

Inhaled insulin
FDA has approved inhaled insulin (Exubera® from Pfizer, Inc) in January 2006 for treatment of diabetic individuals who require insulin therapy. (more...)

Coffee consumption
A recent study reported in the November (2006) issue of Diabetes Care showed that coffee consumption with an average of 2.8 cups/day reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes by 64% compared with those who do not drink coffee. (more...)
